as they approach haddonfield and the trees begin to feel like they're creeping closer together and the fog begins to thicken, heavy and dark, jeff plucks his flashlight out of his pocket. he doesn't click it on right away, but he keeps close to david and keeps moving, knowing that shortly, everything will thin out once they're officially within the bounds of lampkin lane.
passing through the open gate is easy, and jeff only hesitates for a moment to take a quick look around for michael in their immediate area before continuing on ahead, keeping close to one side of the street. once he's mostly satisfied that they're not in immediate danger of being gutted by some weirdo in a mask (there... are a lot of those, now that he thinks about it), he puts his flashlight away. ]
